First, try mineral oil to remove soe excess self tanner. Smooth it on and wipe it off after a few minutes to remove some of the orange-y sheen. If your skin is sensitive, beware of mineral oil which can clog pores. Try white vinegar instead, and simply apply the household variety to a cotton pad and wipe it on. After a few minutes, you can use a slightly damp cotton pad to remove extra self tanner from your skin. Another very successful method is to exfoliate both before and after self tanning. While it can be helpful in removing color from elbows and rough patches, it’s recommended after the vinegar step, to avoid any stinging.
After you use these techniques, you will perfect your own routine to solve any self tanning problems in the future. Some products can be a little strong, and it’s best to spot test the products if you have sensitive skin. Once you know the tricks to even out your skin, self tanner problems will disappear.
