Perfectionism

Perfectionism… is an unachievable goal I’m  trying to eliminate from my life. Why you may ask? Well, no one is or ever will be perfect. This may be a complete surprise to you just as it was to me… One morning after running 7 miles, tutoring the children, preparing a gourmet dinner, inspecting each inch of the house for dust (all of this before heading off to work)… I thought  “what am I doing.” That’s when it hit me…the stress, pressure, crazy thinking and feeling of isolation.  So now, it’s my goal to once a week leave the house a mess; avoid the kitchen at all cost; ignore the bathroom scales and not be perfect!

There is enough evidence suggesting that emotional stress is perhaps the greatest factor in premature aging. With all of the extra demands today’s world perfectionism is the last thing any of us need.    Striving to be perfect not only steals  our happiness…it  adds additional stress to our lives.   There is enough evidence suggesting that emotional stress is perhaps the greatest factor in premature aging.

Keep in mind, for better or worse our skin reflects the general health of our mind, body and spirit.  Unfortunately, the inner turmoil is often displayed outwardly…

Anti-stress Tips:
Love yourself for your unique gifts.
Avoid comparing yourself to others.
Get  connected to others who are uniquely special, as well.
Create a positive mental images of yourself.
Pray for yourself and others.
Treat yourself to a massage, facial or body treatment. These treatments have a positive effect on our well-being.
Smile since it has  positive effect on your attitude, brightens your day and lifts the spirit of those around you.

Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart.
